Roger Sobel MD Retires from OCR,
Capping Career of More Than 30 Years

Excerpt from Dr. Sobel's retirement letter to patients:

It is with some regret that I announce my retirement ....

I have enjoyed my work in Fort Collins with Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies these past 30 years, and feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work with you.

(Dr. Sobel stopped performing surgery on March 31 and provided care for patients with non-operative office visits through April 30, 2010.)

My colleagues at the Orthopaedic & Spine Center will be available to help you with any future orthopaedic needs.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Roger M. Sobel, MD

Excerpt from Dr. Sobel's retirement letter to fellow physicians and doctors' offices:

It is with some regret that I announce my retirement from Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies.  (Note -- Dr. Sobel stopped performing surgery on March 31, 2010; he continued seeing patients with office appointments through April).

I have enjoyed working in Fort Collins for the past 30 years and feel privileged to have interacted with you in providing care for our patients. Thank you.

Ryan Hartman, MD, will join OCR in January 2011 and assume the care of many pediatric orthopaedic patients who have been part of my practice.

Dr. Hartman, the son of pediatric PA Clint Hartman, is currently in his Sports Medicine Fellowship in Cincinnati, OH.  Dr. Hartman will follow the sports training with a Pediatric Orthopaedic Fellowship at Children’s Hospital in Denver.

Until Dr. Hartman’s arrival next January, all of my partners will be available to see pediatric orthopaedic consultations. Specifically, our plan for 2010 for pediatric orthopaedic patient care is as follows:

•   Clubfoot Clinic with Mark McFerran, MD, and my PA Jason Kraemer, at our new Loveland office, 3470 East 15th Street.
•   Hip and gait disorders with Dana Clark, MD, or Wes Jackson, MD, at both offices. Dr. Clark joined OCR in August 2009 as a total joint surgeon; he has spent 8 months training in pediatric orthopaedics at Shriner’s Hospital in Greenville, S.C.
•   Disorders associated with cerebral palsy, and foot/ankle concerns other than clubfoot, with Wes Jackson, MD.
•   For children’s spine and scoliosis care, William D. Biggs, MD (spine disorders and spine surgery), has an excellent background.
•   Hand and upper extremity care with Kenneth Duncan, MD, Mark Durbin, MD, Satoru Chamberlain, MD, or Steven Seiler, MD, at both our offices.
•   For trauma and fracture care, Robert M. Baer, MD, and Michael P. Rusnak, MD, will continue to be available.
•   For PVH newborn nursery coverage and consultations, all my partners will be providing coverage until Dr. Hartman joins OCR in January 2011.
•   Our schedulers will ensure that your patients have appointments with the correct OCR doctors. Our scheduling line is 970-419-7050.

Again I thank you for your referrals to my practice and to OCR. I will miss working as a part of our medical community.

Sincerely,

Roger M. Sobel, MD
