Larimer County Medical Society Honors
Roger Sobel, MD, as Physician of the Year

The Larimer County Medical Society has chosen Dr. Roger Sobel of the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies as its 2009 Physician of the Year.

The County Medical Society honored Dr. Sobel at its annual meeting on December 9 at the Fort Collins Marriott.

Dr. Sobel was recognized for his longstanding commitment to his surgical practice and his patients, and for his outside volunteer activities. He has provided an almost incomprehensible amount of quality care to residents of the region, including much of the complex childrenМ_s orthopaedic care in Northern Colorado.

In awarding him the honor, LCMS Treasurer Dr. Ted Norman noted, МВRoger Sobel has quietly provided care for community health clinics in our area with fees generated by that program donated to a fund to supply special shoes and braces for needy childrenМЁ.

His colleagues and staff know Dr. Sobel as a doctor who has been dedicated to medical and surgical excellence for the people who came to him for care, his respect for his patients, and his willingness to go the extra mile to ensure that they are well taken care of.

Dr. Sobel has been in surgical practice in Fort Collins for 30 years, having joined the Orthopaedic & Spine Center in 1979 when it was known by its former name, Fort Collins Orthopedic Associates.

He came to OCR following specialized, fellowship training in pediatric orthopaedic and hand surgery, service in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Sobel also obtained his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh.
