Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies Gave $131,000
in Charitable Donations, Sponsorship Funding in 2011

The physicians and employees of the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies gave more than $131,000 in donations in 2011 to non-profit and public organizations as gifts andevent sponsorships.

OCR’s physicians and employees also held two food drives last year, collecting canned goods for the Food Bank for Larimer County and for U.S. military personnel from northern Colorado who had been stationed in Afghanistan. OCR collects items for the Food Bank each year in November and December.

OCR primarily makes charitable gifts in two ways:

Through its budgeted charitable/sponsorship funds.

Through its “Jeans Dollars” fund. Employees pay $3 when they wear denim on Fridays, the casual dress day. The physicians provide a 100% match for the employeesМ_ contributions, and the total amounts are given month by month throughout the year, primarily to local non-profit agencies.

With its general charitable/sponsorship funds, OCR focuses on helping non-profit health agencies, schools, sports teams and events, and organizations that serve children.

“We enjoy the practice of giving back to the community,” said Sean Grey, MD, the president of OCR’s board of directors. “Thousands of people in the community have supported us by being our patients over the years. This is one way we can say thank you and help make a difference.”
