OCR Recruiting Clinical Neuropsychologist to Enhance
Sports Medicine, Concussion Services

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies is seeking a clinical neuropsychologist to further develop and expand its concussion services for athletes, parents, and coaches.

The neuropsychologist will focus on the prevention and treatment of head injuries and concussions, especially for athletes in team and individual sports in OCR‰ЫЄs service area of northern Colorado, Wyoming, and western Nebraska. The neuropsychologist job is OCR‰ЫЄs first such position; it has a projected start date in 2014.

OCR uses a nationally-recognized, computerized assessment system known as ImPACT for athletes with suspected concussions. The neuropsychologist will work with the ImPACT system as part of OCR‰ЫЄs Sports Medicine Program, which serves the Colorado Eagles, Colorado Crush, high school teams in Fort Collins, Loveland, Berthoud, Windsor, and Eaton, as well as more than 40 rodeo events in the region each year.

ImPACT was developed by nationally noted physicians and other sports medicine specialists at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

OCR has been expanding its medical and surgical services in the past five years. The growth includes the hiring of three sports medicine physicians and six other doctors, as well as certified athletic trainers who work at the four high schools in Loveland and Berthoud. The practice has also built a new office in Loveland and expanded and remodeled its facility in Fort Collins.
