Physician Assistant to the Orthopaedic Trauma Service Team (Posted: July 24, 2008)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Orthopaedic Physician Assistant will be an integral part of the Orthopaedic Trauma Service by providing to the care of the patients and the efficiency of the system.  The Physician Assistant  is responsible for assisting the orthopaedic surgeon in the care of sick and disabled persons; must relate well to other people and be tolerant and considerate of their condition by understanding their anxieties and allaying their fears.

Preferred qualifications:

Formal training which will be indicated by graduation from an accredited physician assistant program certification by the NCCPA and licensed or eligible to be licensed in the state of Colorado.

Absolute qualities are; attention to details, taking initiative to provide the best efficient care possible, intense understand of the specialized practice demanding the very highest level of fracture and trauma care possible, striving to continue to learn and to be seen as a trauma expert over time, and continuing the professional education of orthopaedic trauma.

Physical guidelines include ability to stand/walk for up to eight hours/day, bend, stoop, twist, assist patients in turning, assist patients in arising from an exam table, push wheelchair patients, and assist patient in arising from and returning to wheelchair.

Additional Duties:

Under the supervision of the Physician the Orthopaedic Trauma Physician Assistant will:
 
First assist the surgeon in the operating room, complete paperwork and the assessing of patients in between OR cases, see clinic patients and follow up on the numerous details associated with a clinical practice, perform routine examinations and pre-operative history and physical exams, communicating with patients regarding questions, test results, MRI results, surgery, and post-operative follow-up, etc, dictate clinic notes, H & Ps and discharge summaries, review pre-operative studies to include CXRs, EKGs, and routine lab tests, perform joint aspirations and intra-articular injections using aseptic technique, perform minor surgical procedures such as pin removals, I & Ds and suturing simple  lacerations, perform rounds on hospital inpatients, chart their progress & report any abnormalities to supervising physician, know at all times the status of key acute patients, including lab work, actions of trauma service, discharge status, etc., seek additional knowledge of trauma procedures by continuing to read and study the                    latest journals, books and published papers, duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.



Case Management Coordinator (Posted: July 24, 2008)

Job Summary:

The Case Management Coordinator performs various routine procedures associated with the Workers’ Compensation tracking system which includes checking for sticker accuracy and Megawest Computer system tracking, using current and work status reports; assures referrals and dictation are received by requesting parties.  Demonstrate a basic knowledge of all workers compensation and no fault insurance and a thorough knowledge of laws and regulations.  Ability to positively communicate through extensive telephone usage in regard to patients under W.C. and No fault cases.  Ability to effectively perceive and understand different view points objectively.  Required to follow OCR as well as departmental policies and procedures.


Medical Assistant/LPN

SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant performs patient-oriented procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse, LVN/LPN and/or physician.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal training which will probably be indicated by a graduation certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program; certification as a Registered Medical Assistant; EKG certification; current phlebotomy and CPR certifications.

Physical guidelines include ability to stand/walk for up to eight hours/day, frequently bend, stoop, twist, frequently assist patients in turning, frequently assist patient in arising from exam table, frequently push wheelchair patients, and frequently assist patient in arising from and returning to wheelchair, lifting up to 25 pound, charts, filing, etc.


Radiologic Technologist (part time 30-32 hours in Fort Collins and/or Loveland) Posted Aug 4, 2008

Position Summary:

The Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic procedures for all doctors according to their specific routine.

Preferred Qualificiations:

Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; graduation from a certified Radiologic Technology Program; Must have A.R.R.T. certification; current CPR certification; ability to type. Valid Colorado Driver's license. Physical guidelines include ability to be exposed to minimal radiation, stand/walk for up to eight hours/day, bend, stoop, twist, assist patients in turning, assist patient in arising from exam table, push wheelchair patients, and assist patient in arising from and returning to wheelchair. Arms are reaching pulling films and carrying films. In front of VDT for up to 8 hours a day, lifting up to 30 pounds, lifting and carrying cassette.
