Post Operative Care

Just after surgery, you will enter 'Acute Recovery,' where you will receive one-on-one care by a registered nurse, until you are fully awake and ready to sit up. If you are going home after surgery, you will be moved to an area where you may have juice, a snack and see your family. When you are ready, you will receive further instruction from the nurse for home care and be on your way home. Usually, your stay with us is between 2 to 4 hours - including surgery.

If you need supervised care after surgery (you will be advised prior to surgery if your physician wants you to stay), you will be moved to a private room in the Recovery Center, where you will receive additional postoperative care and instruction to help the healing process. Your time in the Recovery Center may include exercise instruction and immediate rehabilitation. You will have access to telephone, tv and radio, and visitors may stop by to say hello. Flowers, balloons and gifts for patients are always welcome.
