Dr. C. Dana Clark, who is based in our Loveland and Fort Collins, CO offices, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with advanced training in joint replacement surgery.

Dr. Clark focuses on total joint surgery for patients who need their hips or knees replaced. Along with the traditional surgery techniques for hip and knee replacement, Dr. Clark is now performing anterior hip replacements, in which the operation is done through the front side of a patient's hip.

Dr. Clark's experience and training in a fellowship program gives Dr. Clark expertise in primary hip and knee replacement, complex revisions of joint replacements, computer-assisted joint replacement surgery, as well as minimally invasive joint replacement for those patients for whom that is an appropriate operation. Fellowship programs provide an additional, or sixth, year of orthopaedic surgery training following the completion of a residency program.

The anterior technique for total hip surgery reduces the impact of the surgery on the muscles around the hip, which can mean a faster and easier recovery time for patients in the initial months after the operation. With anterior hip replacement, the surgeon operates on the hip from the front, instead of the side or rear of the joint.

Dr. Clark enjoys helping people who have been active in the past regain their physical health and their ability to do many of the activities and hobbies that they enjoy most. He takes care of patients from OCR's service area of northern Colorado, Wyoming, and western Nebraska.

His board certification was conferred by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Clark is also a fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

Dr. Clark is currently working on an orthopaedic research project to assess the performance of a newly designed total knee implant compared to a knee implant that has been used successfully for some time.

Dr. Clark, who grew up in Farmington, N.M., enjoys the outdoors, especially mountain biking, rock climbing, and skiing, as well as spending time with his family. He and his wife and children live in Fort Collins.
