Nathan A. Hunt, DPM
Dr. Nathan Hunt is a podiatrist who has foot and ankle patient appointments in our Fort Collins and Loveland, CO offices. He joined the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies in 2010.
Dr. Hunt also specializes in taking care of patients who have complications related to their diabetes, such as diabetic foot and wound care problems. He also enjoys helping patients with diabetes keep their feet and ankles in good health.
Dr. Hunt has experience with many kinds of general foot and ankle conditions. He takes care of patients from OCR's service area of northern Colorado, Wyoming, and western Nebraska.
He has advanced training in general podiatry and diabetic foot and wound care techniques through an intensive, two-year fellowship program (2008-2010). Fellowship programs provide additional, highly specialized medical training for a doctor following completion of residency. Dr. Hunt's fellowship was in patient care and research for diabetes and chronic wounds of the foot and ankle. The fellowship was sponsored by the American Diabetes Association and the American Podiatric Medical Association.
Dr. Hunt enjoys helping people of all ages regain their health and ability to walk and engage in their favorite sports or recreational pursuits.
At OCR, he is a member of the Foot and Ankle Team of physicians -- together with Drs. Mike Houghton, Wes Jackson, and Tom Hecker. Drs. Houghton and Jackson are orthopaedic surgeons who specialize in the athletic and reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle. Drs. Hunt and Hecker are podiatrists who focus on general foot and ankle problems, as well as foot and ankle sports medicine and athletic injuries (Dr. Hecker) and diabetic foot and wound care (Dr. Hunt).
Dr. Hunt is currently leading a research study that assesses the ability of a product known as the Skywalker medical boot to relieve pressure on the foot. Dr. Hunt is working on this research project with Certified Rehab, the Department of Health and Exercise Science at Colorado State University, and the Medical Center of the Rockies Foundation, which is providing funding for the study.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Hunt enjoys spending time with his family, along with running, reading, and writing.
