Occupational/Physical Therapist, Hand Therapy Specialist (Part-Time)

The Hand Therapy Specialist plans and conducts individualized occupational therapy programs to help patients develop, regain, or maintain their ability to perform daily activities. They teach patients skills and techniques to use adaptive equipment for participating in activities. 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Evaluates the extent of the patient’s disabilities and limitations to determine appropriate treatment programs.
  • Plans therapy programs and administers treatment to restore body function and strength, relieving pain and preventing disability.
  • Maintains medical records of evaluation, treatment, and progress of each patient. 
  • Demonstrates and maintains proficiency in rehabilitation of the hand/upper extremity, including knowledge of post-surgical progression and fabrication of custom orthoses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • One year previous orthopaedic and manual therapy experience, preferred.
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist within the state of Colorado. Must be in good standings. 
  • Credentialed as a Certified Hand Therapist, preferred.
  • Current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, required. 
  • Core competencies in job knowledge, communication, customer service, planning/organizing, quantity, and confidentiality.
  • Position requires valid driver’s license, acceptable motor vehicle history, valid and free from restrictions, and must have appropriate vehicle insurance coverage. Ability to travel between all OCR locations.

  • The work environment is the typical medical office environment. The employee must be able to complete their work satisfactorily in an environment where there are significant distractions, including staff, patients, and vendors walking through and conversing, telephones ringing, conversations carrying over, loud noises, and interruptions to answer questions from others.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and should do so in a sound and safe manner. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will regularly assist patients in turning and arising from exam table; will regularly push wheelchair patients; and regularly assists patients in arising from and returning to wheelchair or bed.
