The OR Manager is a Registered Nurse whose overall objective is to facilitate the smooth and efficient running of the Operating Room. The manager has a thorough knowledge of all procedures performed in OCR’s operating rooms and is willing to circulate all procedures. The manager possesses and further develops good working relationships with other ASC coworkers and physicians. This position is advisory to the ASC Administrator/Director of Nursing.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Directly supervises one or more employees. Responsible for hiring, planning, monitoring and taking corrective action when necessary, including termination. Addresses concerns with staff to ensure a positive work environment. Works closely with Director on personnel issues, escalating as appropriate.
  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining staffing schedules ensuring efficient coverage for department needs. Utilizes staff efficiently to maintain or improve man-hours per case standard.
  • Provides guidance, support, and constructive feedback to personnel team members and other team members as appropriate.
  • Responsible for the operational and fiscal management, including cost containment effectiveness, of operating room services.
  • Assures proper maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) and other various committees established by the leadership team.
  • Develops and maintains working relationships with sales reps; successfully coordinates equipment evaluations as needed.
  • Assists in the development and/or revision of policies and procedures.

Requirements 

  • Associates Degree from an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) program.
  • Two years’ peri-operative experience, preferably in orthopedics, required.
  • Valid Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license. Must provide proof of license and be in good standing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, a plus.
  • Core competencies in leadership, job knowledge, project management, conflict resolution, interpersonal skills, communication, teamwork, reasoning and problem solving, and confidentiality.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willing to travel between multiple locations.
Physical Requirements
  • The work environment is a typical medical office environment. The employee must be able to complete their work satisfactorily in an environment where there are significant distractions, including staff, patients, and vendors walking through and conversing, telephones ringing, conversations carrying over, loud noises, and interruptions to answer questions from others.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls up to 8 hours per day. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear up to 8 hours per day. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl up to 8 hours a day.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and should do so in a sound and safe manner. The employee will occasionally assist patients in turning (170 lb. average); will occasionally assist patient in arising from exam table; will occasionally push wheelchair patients; and occasionally assists patients in arising from and returning to wheelchair or bed.
