The Radiology Administrative Assistant acts as department liaison for other internal departments as well as customer service for all patient and staffing needs. This position performs routine clerical duties for the Radiology Department associated with order entry, fulfilling imaging record requests, handling phone calls, stocking office supplies, and ticket submission for all X-ray orders. They also work closely with personnel to ensure patient, physician, and co-worker satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs clerical tasks as necessary to all X-ray requests; including order entry and ticket submission for all X-ray orders.
  • Burns CDs as requested.
  • Answers phone calls; takes messages or transfer calls as appropriate.
  • Assists with training of radiology staff, physicians, medical assistants, and other users at OCR in the use and functionality of the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) order system when necessary.
  • Films for physician surgery templates. Maintains printers, CD imports and Burners.
  • Communicates all concerns, risk management issues, breakdown in protocol and constructive criticisms to supervisor. Follows chain-of-command established by supervisor when addressing protocol issues outside of department.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area including personal area and patient area.
  • Responsible for following protocol and/or protocol changes outlined in departmental meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • One year experience in a position directly involving public contact and/or customer service.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Core competencies in communication, teamwork, customer service, planning/organizing, detail oriented, and confidentiality.
  • Acceptable motor vehicle driving history, valid and free from restrictions, and must have a valid driver’s license and appropriate vehicle insurance coverage. Ability to travel between all OCR locations.

Physical Requirements:

  • The work environment is the typical medical office environment. The employee must be able to complete their work satisfactorily in an environment where there are significant distractions, including staff, patients, and vendors walking through and conversing, telephones ringing, conversations carrying over, loud noises, and interruptions to answer questions from others.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls up to 8 hours per day. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and should do so in a sound and safe manner. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
