OCR Patients Not Affected
by Meningitis Alert

FORT COLLINS, CO — Patients who have had a spinal or pain managementinjection at the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies Surgery Center (OCR) are not at risk of fungal meningitis that is the focus of a national medication recall.

OCR and the physicians who provide the spinal injections have never used the brand of steroid, which potentially became tainted during its production by the New England Compounding Center in Massachusetts. The recall was announced Sept. 26.

OCR has never stocked any medications provided by the New England Compounding Center.

Federal and state health officials are investigating the cause of the meningitis and the role of the steroid in patients’ deaths and illnesses.

More information on the recall is availableon the FDA website or the website of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
