The Transcriptionist transcribes physicians’ daily chart notes, correspondence, histories and physicals, operative reports, projects and articles for publication.

The Transcriptionist is responsible for:

  • Typing and editing physician chart notes, operative reports, histories and physicals and other correspondence proficiently and accurately on a daily basis.
  • Proofreading and correcting all work prior to submission.
  • Demonstrating a thorough knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Printing documents and accurately filing them into charts. Investigates and resolves any missing information.
  • Routing appropriate narratives to case management team for billing.
  • Faxing dictation per routing on charts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Include: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of medical transcription experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology for all clinic services is required.
  • Must be an accurate and proficient typist with basic language and sentence structure skills. Must be able to type 80 wpm from voice recognition dictation equipment utilizing earphones and foot controls.
  • Experience in Microsoft Word and voice recognition software preferred.
  • Able to work under pressure with time constraints.
  • Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy. Adheres to HIPAA guidelines

  • The work environment is the typical office environment.   • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls up to 8 hours per day. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee will frequently use Dictaphone equipment with audio capability for up to 8 hours a day. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and should do so in a sound and safe manner. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Pay: $16.00 – $24.50/hour, commensurate with experience
