OCR Welcomes Podiatrist, Dr. Meily Machado
Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies (OCR) is thrilled to welcome Meily Machado, DPM to its podiatry team. Machado specializes in podiatric medicine and surgery. She treats a wide range of concerns, including heel pain, bunions, hammertoes, ingrown toenails, diabetic foot conditions, wounds, and other complex foot problems.
Machado’s career journey didn’t start in medicine, but in avionics with planes and electronics.
“I have always been very hands on and have always been drawn to problem solving and precision. Combining all of those strengths with my passion for helping others made podiatry a very natural fit for me.”
Machado completed her Podiatric Medical Degree at Temple University in Pennsylvania, then went on to complete her 3-year residency program at Palmetto General Hospital in Florida.
“We are excited to have Dr. Machado, with her years of clinical and surgical experience, join our team of specialists at OCR,” said Dr. Nathan Hunt, OCR podiatrist. “She will add great access to care for people of Northern Colorado with foot and ankle pathology.”
Dr. Machado believes patients should feel heard, informed, and comfortable with their treatment options. She takes an individualized approach to care, considering each patient’s goals, lifestyle, and overall health when developing a treatment plan.
“I understand how frustrating it can be when foot & ankle pain affects the things you love. It can affect a patient’s independence, routine, and overall quality of life. That perspective helps me work as a team with my patients to create a care plan that will help them accomplish their goals.”
She is fluent in both English and Spanish and is committed to providing clear communication for Spanish-speaking patients and families throughout Northern Colorado.
Dr. Machado values continuing education and research. Recently, she published two books; one discussing wound care, and another designed to help residents prepare for their board exams.
Outside of work, you can find Dr. Machado staying active, hiking, traveling, exploring Colorado, and spending time with her family and dogs.
