About Tyler Edmond, MD

Dr. Tyler “Ty” Edmond is a fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeon specializing in the treatment of complex fractures and traumatic injuries. His clinical expertise includes fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum, complex peri-articular fractures, nonunions and malunions, limb salvage, and complex joint replacement.

A native of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, Dr. Edmond attended Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Neuroscience while competing as a varsity football player. He went on to earn his medical degree and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. During his training, he developed a particular interest in complex orthopaedic trauma care through his clinical experience at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. His time at Maryland also included extensive academic work, with numerous manuscripts published in peer-reviewed orthopedic journals.

Following residency, Dr. Edmond completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma through Emory University at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Grady is one of the busiest Level I trauma centers in the country. Here, he gained advanced clinical and surgical experience in the treatment of complex pelvic and acetabular fractures, peri-articular injuries, and ballistic trauma.

His fellowship training also provided extensive experience in limb salvage and the management of complex bone loss, including innovative bone transport techniques for patients with large segmental bone defects. This included the use of both traditional circular external fixation and newer internal bone transport devices. He also developed expertise in the management of complex fractures around joint replacements, as well as complex total hip and shoulder arthroplasty when reconstruction is not possible following a severe injury.

Dr. Edmond treats fractures throughout the upper and lower extremities and provides comprehensive care for patients with acute fractures as well as fracture complications, including nonunions and malunions. His goal is to provide thoughtful, individualized treatment for each patient, with an emphasis on restoring function and helping patients return to the activities that are important to them.

Dr. Edmond is excited to join Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies and serve patients throughout Colorado. Outside of medicine, Ty is an avid outdoorsman. He and his wife, Corinne, enjoy spending time outdoors and share a passion for rock climbing, skiing, hiking, and biking
