John Booren

“After only 3 months, I am very thankful to be back living again! It’s even nice to be back at work.”

Colorado native, John Booren, enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle, including fly fishing, mountain biking, hiking, camping, and bowhunting. However, that all came to an abrupt stop with the first snowstorm of the 2018 winter. While scrapping ice off his truck, John slipped and fell.  About 10 years ago, John had a mountain bike accident requiring shoulder surgery, so he knew instantly that he had badly injured his shoulder once again.

“I was able to make an appointment and be seen by Dr. Shah within 48 hours. Dr. Shah evaluated my shoulder, did some tests, and immediately told me that this was an injury that needed prompt attention. I was happy he didn’t send me to physical therapy or tell me to take aspirin and come back in 2 weeks.

Due to my previous surgery, I required a special MRI procedure with dye (contrast). I was so relieved that at that same initial appointment, I was able to get this MRI completed on-site at Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies.

Dr. Shah read the MRI images right away, and we thoroughly discussed all of my options. He has a great bedside manner and is very open and easy to talk to, especially considering the complications of this being a second surgery on my shoulder.

Dr. Shah and his staff were amiable. They told me precisely what was going to happen, and it all went exactly as they explained. After the surgery, one of the things I really liked was how Dr. Shah walked me through the arthroscopic photographs he had taken during my procedure.

I had a lot less pain with this surgery, and the speed of recovery was amazing! I attribute that to the experience and precision of Dr. Shah.

If you need an orthopedic surgeon, he is the person to go to. After only 3 months, I am thankful to be back living again and enjoy Colorado outdoors. I hate to say it, but it’s even nice to be back at work.”
